New Year Resolutions are so 2017, Here’s why you Should Pick a Theme Instead
New Year, new me. Not.
Every year, we make lists of resolutions. Every year, only a teeny-tiny percentage of people actually follow through with these resolutions.
Raise you’re hand if you’re like me and forget 90% if not all resolutions by February first. 🙋♀️
This is why we need to choose themes instead.
Choosing a theme will open new doors in life.
One theme. One word or phrase to live your year by. Scratch that, live your life by it!
By choosing a theme to focus on, you create new habits that will carry on for the rest of your life.
And honestly, isn’t it easier to focus on one theme rather than accomplishing 10 (more or less) resolutions/goals you set for yourself?
Ok, so what are some examples of themes?
1. Self care2. Accountability3. Confidence4. Try new things5. Adventure6. Organization7. Health and wellness8. Time management9. Personal Growth10. Mindfulness11. Honestly the list is limitless Anything you’ve always wanted to do or be is possible. That’s what you should focus on.
I’ve always wanted to become a full time
blogger, so my theme for this year will be
I want to put myself first and invest in myself.
In fall of 2017, I completely lost myself in school and work. I barely blogged or even posted to my IG. I didn’t take time for me. I didn’t workout or cook clean meals as often and I would have liked.
2018 will be different. I will live my life around the central theme of self care. This will allow me to achieve goals and acquire positive and healthy habits.
By choosing a theme a year, you can build upon and improve yourself regularly. It will also help keep you mindful of every day actions without focusing on being “mindful” yourself. It’ll be come second nature.
